I love seeing what the new listings are in Wolflin. As Amarillo's only Historic District, the Wolflin area is truly a marvelous mixed bag of architectural style, unique design, and old money.

Just about every home you'll find in the neighborhood is distinctly one-of-a-kind. It's no wonder then, that the listed prices are somewhat eyebrow-raising. You're not just paying for a home, you're purchasing a true piece of Amarillo history.

Take for example, this home at 2802 S Hughes, listed with Leslie Cunningham of Keller Williams. You might gasp a little at the asking price of $1.6 million, but you'll soon see why the value was set so high for this particular house.

"Once in a generation opportunity," is how this place is described in the listing. The home retains a good deal of its original hardware, such as the groove and peg floors, the crown molding, and the heated driveway.

Listed as a 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom property there is also a formal living room, formal dining room, spacious den with garden views, a library. I'm particularly a fan of the master suite, which has its own elevator, a fire place, and his/her closets--among other dazzling features.

In a more modern take, there is apparently a high-tech system wired throughout the property to deliver custom lighting and music throughout the grounds. Pretty cool.
