Active Shooter Response Classes Held at Tascosa High School
With the increase of shootings in the United States, people have decided to take action in order to be prepared.
There have been mass shootings across the United States for decades. These tragic events can be spurred by terrorism, like the recent shooting in San Bernardino. Sometimes, motives are unknown, like the Columbine High School shooting.
No matter what the reason behind these shootings is, citizens want to be prepared and able to take action if they are put in a dangerous situation.
CRASE stands for Citizen Response to Active Shooter Events. The class serves to put people through simulations of active shooters to prepare them. Amarillo Police Department, Potter County Sheriff's Department, and Canyon Police Department are among the facilitators of this class.
APD held their first class on Wednesday, December 15th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Tascosa High School auditorium. There was a huge response from the public.
Although this class has been put on since 2013, it's gained a lot of attention recently.
The class is free to the public and lasts about two hours, including questions.
The next class will be held on December 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the Regency Room of the Amarillo Civic Center.
For information regarding the dates and times that the classes will be offered, contact Danny Perez at 806-378-9409.
