Every year we have many different events and walks that support different causes and charities across the panhandle. There also seems to be a certain time frame in which most of these walks tend to take place.

We see them early in the spring and early fall as well as those temps start to dip a bit lower, but not too low.

Well, we've officially reached that time where the walks begin to happen, and we've got one on tap here in Amarillo this coming Saturday, September 30.

It's the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and it's always a good one to be a part of. Participants of this walk tend to be very involved with it, and that is experienced by participants honoring those that have been affected by Alzheimer's with the Promise Garden ceremony.

Alzheimer's affects more people than most think. Just in Texas alone, there are more than 400,000 people living with the disease, and over 1,000,000 caregivers that take care of those living with the disease. At some point in your life, you have probably known someone with the disease.

They have been getting closer and closer to stopping Alzheimer's, and it all begins with things like your donations towards research, these walks, and various other events. Being able to bring any kind of disease to an end is always something we hope to do, so this is our chance to help.

Gates for the walk will open up at 9 am, with a ceremony beginning at 10 am. The walk itself will begin at 10:30 am at HODGETOWN.

If you'd like to register for the walk and be a part of it, you can do that here.
