Amarillo Artists Now Have Another Place to Display Their Artwork
Amarillo has no shortage of talented, creative people. From slam poetry to filmmakers, we've got a spot for artists of all kinds. For painters in the area, there's another place you can display your work, and possibly make some money from a sale.
Calico County's New Art Wall
Calico County Restaurant has dedicated an entire wall of their restaurant to displaying works created by local artists. You can check out this post from their Facebook page to see what it looks like.
If you're a little surprised, you're not alone. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to see an announcement like this either. That doesn't mean that I don't think this is great news, because I really feel like it is.
Any time that our local artists get shown a little love is worth celebrating.
New Home for Local Group of Artists
Also, this is where the Amarillo Breakfast Club is now meeting. They're a group of local artists, of all types, that meet for breakfast (as you probably have guessed). You can find out more here.
This reminds me of a place in Oklahoma City that I used to go to so I could listen to local Blues artists and songwriters play. The walls of that locally owned coffee-shop/diner were covered in pieces created by local artists.
Walking through the front door was always an interesting experience. You never knew what would be hanging on the wall when you got inside. Then, as an added bonus, local songwriters and musicians would play through the night.
Hats off to Calico County for supporting our local artists and giving them a place to display their work.
