Amarillo’s Movie-Like Truck Crash Is Real — And Still Unresolved
About a year ago, something so wild and extraordinary happened in Amarillo that it took everyone by surprise. A semitruck that launched itself off of I-40 and slammed into a Batteries Plus location right off of Paramount.
It was a scene out of a movie, something you'd expect to happen in a 'Fast & Furious" flick, but it wasn't. This was real life, in our backyard.
Semitruck Plows Batteries Plus
In case you forgot what happened, it was back in March 2025 when a semitruck managed to veer off I-40 eastbound, fly down the access road at a high rate of speed, then ultimately come to a rest at the Batteries Plus store there.
However, it's been nine months now since that happened, the building is still in the same condition it was in when they removed the semitruck, and people are starting to ask why.
Insurance Issues Holding Things Up?
Rumor on everything right now is that there are some insurance issues that are delaying everything with the store, and some of it makes sense. There was also a rumor that the trucker didn't have insurance, but that seems unfounded.
The last thing we had heard was that insurance was indeed holding things up, whether that was based on the value of the building, stuff inside, etc., or other factors. Lawyers come into play as well. One thing we seem to be pretty confident in is that when insurance is finally cleared and done, they are planning on rebuilding the building and getting it back and functional.
When that will be, who knows?
