The construction on Amarillo Blvd. has been going on for literal years now. However, it was feverishly being worked on then it just suddenly stopped.

We've seen it pick up here and there, but it never seems to sustain any progress. It just keep starting and stopping.

There have been numerous different reasons for this. Some may be true, some may be working theories, and some could just be full-on guesses. No matter which one it is, there seems to be a multitude of reasons as to why the project isn't getting done.

Let's take a look at some of the things we've heard as to why the project isn't being finished.

THE RAILROAD ISN'T WORKING WITH THEM

The area in which they're working does indeed have a railroad which can complicate things. Yes, they can't stop the trains from coming through, but that doesn't seem to be the issue that's been brought up.

There were supposedly trains that were stopping on the tracks for extended periods of time, thus the construction crews would be locked up from doing any work while they were on the tracks. Because the railroads wouldn't work with the construction company, they just halted work altogether.

CONSTRUCTION COMPANY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS

This is one that has been bandied about a couple of different times. It's also one that I feel could be true, or pure speculation. I only say that because construction companies have been known to go out of business and leave projects hanging before.

Rumor has it the company that originally won the bid ended up defaulting, and TXDOT had to rebid the project. Word is that a new company has been chosen and work is going to begin on it soon.

WILL IT EVER BE COMPLETED

People have mentioned they've seen Atmos trucks out there recently, and some trenches being dug, so it does appear that at least some kind of prep work is being done so they can complete the project. I saw that it's supposedly supposed to be done by December, so fingers crossed we can scratch this one off the list.
