Amarillo Businesses Love To Close Early. Why?
There's a lot of things in Amarillo that tend to drive me crazy, just like everyone else. However, the things that irritate us can be very different from one another. I think one thing we all agree on however is the wind.
I haven't met one person that said they love the wind of Amarillo. That's not what I came here to talk about though.
I've mentioned on numerous occasions how I'm a sports card collector. Call it childish, call it silly, I love it. The chase of pulling a big card from a pack, the thrill of acquiring something for my PC (personal collection) and getting my hands on cards that I could never afford as a kid, but always wanted.
It makes me feel young again, takes me back to a place where I can escape the daily grind of life, even if just for 30 minutes.
In Amarillo, we have two sports card shops that I'm aware of. I understand, it's not a big city, and to have two places I can go to is better than some cities that don't have even one. I'm not complaining about that.
I just recently learned that we have two shops here, so a week or so ago, I decided to go check out the shop I just discovered. I looked it all up on Google, checked their hours, etc. and hopped in the car.
I pull up to the building and indeed I see a sign there, so I know I'm in the right place. I get out of the car, walk up to the door, go to open it. It doesn't open. Yup, locked. Closed.
I've noticed this happening not just at these two sports card shops, but at other businesses around town. They post hours they're going to be open, then they're not actually open during the posted hours. How exactly do you expect your business to be thriving if you aren't open when you say you will be?
Bottom line is this. If you can't keep regular hours, don't post them. Make mention that your hours will vary so people don't go in expecting you'll be open. It's truly annoying, and makes me not want to spend money at your business.
