Many Amarillo citizens, members of Impact Futures and K2 Kills Facebook group and more, will be protesting the sale of K2 in Amarillo.  Their plan is to meet at Taco Bell at 34th & Washington, across from Green Gorilla Smoke Shop, beginning at 1pm on April 12th.  All in an effort to get K2 off shelves, and out of the hands of the young adults and even children that are experimenting with the dangerous drug.

I spoke with one of the protestors involved, and this is what they told me:

"It’s time for people to know and get involved!  There is no preregistration at all, if anyone wants to be a part of it, all they need to do is show up to Green Gorilla at 1pm on April 12th. If they feel they need to contact them for more info, the website is www.impactfutures.org and their phone number is on the home page at the top. HOWEVER I have to tell you we aren’t going inside any buildings and aren’t going to be nasty because, the businesses are still members of our community!  We will show respect, we will not stoop to their level. We aren't out to harass them and we can’t go in and we can’t block the entrance or exits. These are the laws and we will follow them fully.

We also have a petition going around to hold the stores accountable for their actions as well. If people are interested in that they can send an email to Impact Futures at IFCCPROJECT@GMAIL.COM and they will be sent the petition and all they need to do is print off and pass it around to who ever they want and then return it to their office at 600 S. Tyler, Chase Building."

I got a chance to catch up with the owner of Green Gorilla to get his take on it, and what he had to say may come as a surprise to you!

"We have not and do not sell K2!  We have had nothing like that since 2012!  We quit selling before the Music Box did... We are getting blown up and people have even came in threatening my employees for something we don't even do! They are saying they don't believe us because they heard it on the radio!  We sell e-cigs, glass, hookahs etc. We do not sell herbal incense! People are saying things and have no clue. We oppose the stuff!!"

I've heard many horror stories that ended tragically, all stemming from experimenting with the dangerous drug, K2.  These students and citizens have decided it's time to do something about it.
