Iconic Amarillo Drive-In to Close as Owner Retires
Lately, we've seen some restaurants disappear from the Amarillo landscape. Some have been chains, some local, but many of them are dearly missed.
The economy has been the biggest culprit in these places going out of business. Rising food prices, fewer and fewer people going out to eat, and because of that, we're seeing some long-standing restaurants close their doors.

Another Long-Standing Amarillo Restaurant Closing Its Doors
We heard about this closing from someone who messaged us on Facebook, and it definitely came as quite a surprise to us when we read it. I will preface it by saying this closing isn't due to the aforementioned reasons why other restaurants are shutting their doors.
Daniel's Drive In, an Amarillo staple for 40+ years, has decided that now is the time to shut down the carhop and move on.
Why Is Daniel's Looking To Close
Like I said, it didn't come down to money or not being able to keep the doors open financially. That hasn't been an issue for the restaurant.
Gary Daniel, the owner of Daniel's Drive In, has decided it's time to hang it up. According to the message we received on Facebook, Gary told a friend that it was the plan.
When Is Daniel's Drive-In Shutting The Doors
Unfortunately, we weren't given a date as to when the restaurant would be wrapping things up, but our best guess is that it won't be too long from now.
So if you have a craving for that bomb Green Chile Burger, or whatever your favorite is, we recommend getting there as soon as possible.
