Amarillo ISD School Supply List

The 2011-2012 school year is just around the corner and will be here before you know it.  If you are anything like me than you put off all the shopping until the last minute. 

School starts on August 22nd, which is a little more than a week away.  If you have not done your shopping, you are running out of time.  I have gathered this year's school supply lists to help you out.

Now I don't have any kids in school, but when I looked over these lists, I saw a few items that made me think "what do they need this for?"  Maybe its just me, but what do the kids need baggies for?  And not just one box, but two boxes.

Or dry erase markers?  This was on the Pre K and Kindergarten list. Two packs of 4 dry erase markers.  Is this for the students or teachers?  Another this that blew me away was the request for 24 number 2 pencils.  Twenty-four?  I cannot imagine a Kindergartner going through 24 pencils.  how much writing is being done?

I decided to call my sisters, who have kids in school, and their supplies list was even more ridiculous than Amarillo's.  Their schools asked for paper towels and plastic forks.  Crazy.

So if you have kids in school, can you please tell me what they need these things for?
