5 Must-See Amarillo Events Happening This Weekend
Well, here we are, the unofficial end of summer in Amarillo. Labor Day weekend is upon us, three more days until we put the white pants away for the year and start to prep ourselves for cooler temps and the holidays.
Before it's all over, though, we've got a few fun events happening in the city that will allow us to go out with a bang, so take a look below at the things you'll be able to hit up this weekend.
Movie Night At Amarillo College
What a great way to kick off a weekend, right? Amarillo College will be hosting movie night at The Pit, and it'll be more than just a movie. Let's start with the big piece, though, the movie itself. Shrek will adorn the big screen after the sun has gone down, so anticipate between 8:30-9 pm.
Other things to enjoy will be face painting, bingo, other games, and crafts. You'll be able to get snacks and drinks there, and some prizes will be given away, like gift cards and an air fryer.
Discovery Center For $1
Also going on Friday is $1 admission at the Don Harrington Discovery Center. There will be space theatre shows, encounters with some of the critters, and some live science demonstrations.
Saturday, the fun continues at Wildcat Bluff Nature Center, where you'll get to enjoy everything it has to offer for only $1.
Muscle Cars & More
We have several car shows throughout the Texas Panhandle every year, but this one always seems to be one of the best ones around. The 17th Annual Crime Stoppers Car Show will be taking place at the Amarillo Civic Center on Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
Admission is only $5 to get in, with kids 10 and under getting in free. First responders will also get to enjoy free admission.
Last Weekend For Wonderland
If you're looking to get on the Texas Tornado one last time this year, or haven't had a chance to get on it at all, this weekend is your last chance to do so. Got a big family and want to save some money?
Then Sunday is your day, as Wonderland is rocking their final Sunday Family Fun Day! $26 admission per person, which is a discounted rate, so take advantage of it!
