You Can Now Access 7,000+ Publications for Free in Amarillo
Remember the days of young kids tossing newspapers on the doorsteps of Amarillo homes? Yeah, those days are pretty much gone. How about those days when you had countless magazine subscriptions and couldn't wait for the new one to arrive in your mailbox? Well, you may still have one or two of those, but for the most part, that's gone as well.
As we've shifted into an almost entirely digital world, newspapers have struggled to gain print subscribers, and magazine companies are seeing a major downturn in subscriptions. I used to get all my subscriptions from the kids who came to my door selling magazine subscriptions for a fundraiser. Truth? I kind of miss them.

Amarillo Public Library Steps Up Its Game
It seems I'm not the only one who misses this stuff. The newspapers have shifted to online models, and magazine companies are doing the same. Here's the problem with that...not everyone has access to the digital world whenever they want, or they just aren't tech savvy enough to find what they're looking for.
Enter the Amarillo Public Library. We know they've always had free Wi-Fi you can use, along with computers you can access. Now? They're making it easier for you to find all the publications you could want by teaming up with PressReader.
What Is PressReader
This amazing app and site allows you access to right around 7,000 different magazines AND newspapers from around the world. Yes, I said, around the world. There are so many people who want to stay up to date on what's going on in the places they used to live, or get more in-depth coverage of their favorite sports teams from a local perspective. I love reading the SF Gate sports section personally.
When you're inside the library, you won't need any credentials to access PressReader. If you'd like to access it outside the library, you can do that as well. You can download the app or access it from the desktop at home, create an account, and then you can utilize the library's credentials for access. Pretty easy, right? Go check it out and stop missing out on all your favorite magazines and newspapers!
