It happens in every city, and Amarillo is no different. Crime is always going to be something every city has to worry about, some more than others. Burglaries however, seem to be more prevalent in certain cities than others.

Amarillo tends to be one of the cities that has a higher rate of burglaries, but not typically businesses. We hear more about car break-ins or home burglaries.

What Business In Amarillo Recently Got Burglarized

One place burglars like to think about is a pawn shop. On the surface, it seems kind of strange to say that, but when you take a second to think about it, the concept makes perfect sense. Pawn shops are typically loaded with some nice stuff due to people trying to get funds.

Power tools, electronics, guns, jewelry, and a whole lot more. Items that can make quick, easy money for someone should they decide to take it. Damron's Pawn on Paramount had plenty of that stuff, and now they're missing a few things.

How Did They Break In

A lot of times, you hear that someone either picked a lock, smashed a window, or was even an employee who had access to the building after it had closed for the evening.

These suspects did none of the above. They managed to access the building through the roof, which tells me they had scoped the place out and knew it well enough to be able to enter through there.

What Did The Burglars Get Away With

When you look at the pictures that Amarillo Crime Stoppers posted on their Facebook, you'd assume it was a smash-and-grab for the jewelry. I mean, pawn shops end up with old engagement rings and some pretty high-end stuff.

Nope. Inside the busted cases, if you look close enough, were guns, and the ones they got away with weren't your garden variety firearm. They made away with a shotgun and five AR-style pistols. Some high-power stuff.

If you have any leads, don't hesitate to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers. If your tip leads to an arrest, you could find yourself with $1,000 in your pocket.
