Could More People Be Charged In Randall High School Assault Case?
Last week, the news came out that an incident occurred on a bus carrying the Randall High School JV baseball team. What began as hazing turned into sexual assault, and now charges have been filed.
I say it started as hazing because, according to reports, that's what it was at first. However, it took a turn for the worse, and now we wait to find out if more charges are waiting in the wings.

One Student Charged
The Amarillo Police Department reviewed footage from the bus surveillance cameras and was able to identify Ayden Sanning as the main suspect. Police also issued search warrants for the cell phones of two other people on board the bus to obtain additional video.
Sanning was ultimately charged with six counts for the incident. Three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, those being for exposing his genitals to a student under the age of 17 for his own sexual gratification.
Another three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, those being for having the victim touch his genitals for sexual gratification. Because minors are involved, we don't have any further details on exactly what Sanning made the other student do.
Could More Be Charged In The Case
As of right now, police have not mentioned whether or not there will be more charges filed against Sanning, or if others could ultimately be facing charges for the incident as well. We have reached out to the Randall County Sheriff's Office and are awaiting a response.
UPDATE: After reviewing the video and surveillance on the bus, seven juveniles have been referred to Randall County Juvenile Probation for charges. As of now, we are unaware of what those charges could be, or why those seven individuals were referred. Because they are minors, information is limited.
The reason I wonder that is because more than one kid is missing from the Randall High School JV baseball team roster. Several players have disappeared from their roster on the GameChanger app, and players that were once showing up in box scores, some starters, have not appeared in the two games the Randall High School JV team has played since then.
Conditions Of Bond For Sanning
Sanning was released on a $50,000 bond, and it came with several restrictions. He is to have no contact with the victim, and also cannot intimidate, threaten, or menace the victim in any way. He also may not have contact with any of the witnesses or any type of contact with someone under the age of 17.
He also must abide by an 8 pm to 6 am curfew, is not allowed to possess a gun, is not allowed to use drugs or consume alcohol, and cannot engage in any sexual contact with someone under the age of 17. Considering the charges and conditions of his bond, we have reached out to Canyon ISD to confirm if Mr. Sanning has been suspended or expelled from attending classes at Randall High School, to which we received a response of:
Canyon ISD is aware that a student has been arrested in connection with an off-campus incident currently under investigation. The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our top priority. We appreciate the ongoing work of the Randall County Sheriff’s Office and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement. Due to student privacy laws, we are unable to share additional details.
We will continue to monitor the case, and also dig for info as to what happened, how many were involved, and what the fallout is, both legally and otherwise.
