As a collector myself, I've found Amarillo to be a tough place to be. It's not that there aren't places to go; it just seems there is a lack of options when it comes to it.

Personally, I'm a sports card collector. My youngest son is into cards with me, but shoes as well. Sure, there are the flea markets and other places like that we can go to, but there's a very limited supply at those places, and the prices are typically a bit higher than we want to pay.

A New Place In Amarillo

However, there is a new place in town, but not new players to the scene. Nick & Ryan Perez were weekend grinders, setting up at flea markets and other random events to be able to cultivate a business.

Selling shoes, cards, and other collectibles, they made a name for themselves and found plenty of repeat customers. However, they had a bit of an issue, and only one thing could rectify it.

The Storefront

They'd find people reaching out to them on weekdays, either wanting to look at stuff or buy something. They had nowhere to do that without meeting up somewhere. So they decided to do something about that.

They opened up a true storefront at 3318 S. Georgia St., Materialistic Junkies, and they've got everything a collector could dream of, not to mention a killer line of clothing.

The Materialistic Movement

It's more than just opening the store; they've got a big event coming up at the Amarillo Civic Center’s North Exhibit Hall on August 9th that will only further brand them into the fabric of Amarillo.

More than 15 vendors will be setup with everything from vintage dealers, to sneaker resellers, to card collectors, and more. Admission will be $5 with the first 150 people getting a free swag bag. One of those bags will contain a free pair of sneakers.
