This weekend in Amarillo should've been a precursor, a heads up, that something wicked come this way with the weather. Saturday was actually beautiful the entire day. Sunday? Entirely different story.

While the temps didn't drop from where they've been, that wind started kicking up fierce after noon on Sunday, and typically when it gets as bad as it was, it means we've got some weather coming. Well, it never showed up Sunday...but it was a sign, a warning, that it's coming.

Calm Before The Storm

Today, Tuesday, April 28, we will have the same spring temps and weather that's been hanging around. Low to mid 80's with some light wind. However, those wind gusts could kick up around 30 mph, which is very similar to what happened on Sunday. Dust devils were forming in the infield of the ballfields we were playing at.

Tonight, that wind will begin blowing in cooler temps as overnight lows are going to kick down into the low 40's with a high on Wednesday anticipated to be around 73 degrees. Wednesday night will change everything, and you will more than likely wake up to a wet morning.

Thunderstorms Coming For A Couple Of Days

Thursday is when the fun begins. Temps drop down into the 50's, and we can expect it to be wet pretty much all day. Thunderstorms aren't expected until the overnight hours, which is perfect, so it can keep us awake all night long.

Those thunderstorms will settle down, but then regenerate around 1 p.m. on Friday. Wind, lightning, and booms (thunder) are to be expected until later in the evening. Saturday sees the rain disappear, and the temps rebound to the upper 60's.

Hey, we need the moisture in the worst way, so let's kick back and enjoy the fun.
