The most recent update on the tuberculosis outbreak stemming from Fannin Middle School in Amarillo is in.  The results, 83 people out of 698 tested positive for TB.

Of the total 83 that tested positive, 11.9% resulted at a base-line rate...whatever that means.  So far, no other active cases have been found.

“This is good news,” says Dr. Matt Richardson, director of Public Health for the City of Amarillo. “We see that the rate of positives in the whole campus is roughly half of what classmates were and this is in line for what we would expect in the general population.”

If parents or staff need further information, they may call the City of Amarillo Department of Public Health at 806-378-6300.
