At 1:14am this morning, a suspect armed with a baseball bat was terrorizing residents in the neighborhood around the 3300 block of S. Jackson in Amarillo.  The suspect was going around breaking windows with the bat, when the suspect decided to take it even further and made entry into a residence.  The homeowner of the residence called Amarillo Police.  While officers were in route, shots were fired in the house, and a 25 year old female sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

"On Friday, September 27, 2013, at 1:14 AM, officers were sent to 3300 block of S. Jackson on reports of a subject armed with a bat, breaking windows. The caller advised they were armed, and a short time later the homeowner reported that the suspect had made entry into the residence. While officers were still en route, they learned that shots had been fired, and the suspect was down inside the residence. Responding officers made contact with and the home owner and a witness. The suspect was in the home. She had sustained gunshot wounds. The suspect was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The suspect, a white female 25 years of age, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The homeowner and witness were transported to the Amarillo Police Department for further investigation. No arrests were made pending additional investigation."

The resident involved in this incident has been released pending additional investigation. The female suspect remains hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds, believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The resident and the female suspect know each other due to a previous relationship.
