Texas Deputy Defends Child From Man Who Tried To Climb Into Car
When you live in a state as big as Texas, you have more of a chance of some wild and crazy stuff happening. What happened in Atascocita on Friday would certainly qualify as crazy...and harrowing if I'm being quite honest.
It involves a child, an off-duty police officer, and a random person who tried to do something that is beyond comprehension...and it cost them their life.
A Cop Just Being A Dad
It was a Friday afternoon in the small suburb outside of Houston. An officer was off-duty and just spending time with his young child. The Harris County deputy had just put their child in their car seat when things took a turn.
A man, later identified as 27-year-old Darrius Williams, decided he wanted to go along for the ride and attempted to climb into the car. This is where things took a major turn.
Ignored Commands & The Unfortunate Outcome
The deputy had to kick into immediate officer mode as he felt his child was in danger. He began giving verbal commands to Williams to step away from the vehicle. Williams decided to ignore those commands and opened the passenger side door to climb in.
It was at that moment that everything changed. The deputy was on the phone with 911, informing them he had someone at gunpoint, but as the man opened the passenger door, he sprang into action. The deputy fired several shots at the suspect, with the child still sitting in the car.
Williams was administered first aid and taken to the hospital, where he would later die of his injuries. The deputy and the child are both safe.
