I know many are thinking about how they can help out the victims of the fire that devastated residents of Fritch and Hutchinson County.  While our hearts go out to the victims, and we are working hard to Stuff the Truck for the families that have been displaced, we also would like to spread the word about an Amarillo family that is in need of help in a difficult time.  Recently, we heard the tragic story of Milton Joseph Cruz, the Amarillo tattoo artist that was taken unexpectedly in a car accident.  Joseph left an impression on many in more than just ink, including the family he loved dearly.  Joseph is survived by a baby girl, now 5 months old, 2 additional children, and the mother of his newborn baby, fiance Kim-Jade Packer.  After a month of grieving, yet staying strong for her kids in the loss of Joseph, Kim-Jade Packer tragically lost her life last night in a car accident.  Family and friends are putting on a fundraiser to honor Kim-Jade and benefit the children, and would like all of her friends, Joseph's friends, and those impacted by the couple to come show support during the fundraiser and candlelight vigil.

I spoke with Kenneth Cruz, brother of Joseph and uncle of the children that have lost their mom and dad within a month of each other, and he gave me the details about what they're hoping to receive at the BBQ/fundraiser and candlelight vigil being held at Aristocrat Tattoo Studio.

Kenneth Cruz:

"Thank you it us a hard time for us all.  I would appreciate it if you can mention the fundraiser, the BBQ starts at 2pm, and we would like it if anybody can help out with anything they can.  We will be having a fundraiser during the whole thing too help with my niece and nephew and Kim-Jade, then we will be having a candle vigil at sunset.  If everybody would please bring there own candles...  It will all take place at Aristocrat Tattoo studio, 804 SW 10th.  We're going to be doing it from 2 till ???

We have two gift certificates, one for 500 dollars for Joe Grunow out of Amarillo Body Art, and one from Mike Diaz out of Lubbock for a 3 hour session at Sunken City Ink.  Tickets will be 15 for one or 25 for two and the drawing will be after candle vigil..."
