Benefit Lunch To Support Amarillo First Responders September 12
One thing Amarillo is excellent about is showing love and respect for our first responders. A lot of businesses in the area will offer up discounts, and I often see residents just chatting with police officers when they're out and about.
We seem to recognize that all the first responders have a demanding job, and that's to serve and protect us. From the police who keep us safe, to the fire department that puts out the blazes, and the paramedics who act fast to help us, we are appreciative.
Now, we all have a chance to show love to a couple of first responder families who desperately need our help, and it'll be in a fun way that will also get you fed a little lunch.
Tomorrow, Thursday, September 12, don't stop at your favorite fast food joint to grab a bite. Head on out to the Old Potter County Courthouse Lawn at 500 S. Fillmore for a burger and help the families of a couple of fallen individuals.
The Potter County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department Employee Benefit Board are teaming up for a benefit lunch that will get you a hamburger, chips, and a drink for just $10, and all the proceeds will be going to some families in need.
Mark Fuentes was a dispatcher and he recently passed away. As you may well know, expenses when someone passes away aren't cheap, so the family needs help to cover those costs.
The Marler family is the other ones the benefit will be helping. Dep. Marler has a wife who recently had a major surgery, and because of it, she can't work right now. The bills are stacking up as you might imagine and they need some help getting by.
So come on out and help a couple of first responder families in need. I promise the burgers they're cooking up will taste better than any other fast food joint you might be thinking about.
