In a state and country where we don't agree on basically anything, there's one thing that we CAN agree on, and that's paying tribute to and thanking our military members. Those who have served for our freedoms have always been something we have been thankful for.

However, once they've served, we have a tendency not to take care of them. They've been through things we can't imagine, they struggle with mental issues and because of it, end up not being able to find a job to support themselves and ultimately some end up homeless.

That's not a way we should be taking care of them. We should do anything we can to allow them to get in the swing of life outside the military. Enter Homeless Heroes of Amarillo, and they are doing something really cool to help give back.

We all like having a good time as well, so tomorrow Saturday, July 15, Homeless Heroes is is having an event where we can have that fun as well as give back to our military members.

It all kicks off with the bike run starting and finishing at BOOM Brewing Company. The first bike heads out at 2 pm and the last bike will roll in around 7 pm. It's only $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. Of course, all the money goes to Homeless Heroes to give back.

After the bike run, there will be a cash bar along with BBQ style plates for just $10. Live music will be provided by The Teague Brothers Band.

That's not the end of it though. At 6:30 pm, the bean bags will start flying for a cornhole tournament at BOOM. This will be a double elimination bracket style tournament and it's $50 per team to get entered. There is a 50% payout going to the top three teams and the rest of it going to Homeless Heroes.

So head on out to BOOM Brewing Company this weekend for some fun, and to give back.
