A former Brookfield Zoo employee is out of work after posting a racist status update on her personal Facebook page.

Shana Poohpooh Latrice was fired, in what was described as "prompt action," after the zoo received multiple complaints about photo that she posted to her Facebook page with a caption describing her day at work serving "rude ass white people."

Her post was shared like wildfire on social media, and featured a photo of Latrice in her Brookfield Zoo uniform in front of what looks to be the gift shop or a concessions stand.

According to CBS Chicago, a spokeswoman for the zoo called the employee's actions "unacceptable."

his employee’s statements in social media are in violation of our policies and do not reflect our institution’s values. We have zero tolerance for these kinds of divisive behaviors. We treat all employment matters confidentially, but rest assured that we have taken prompt action to remedy the situation

Some of the people commenting on social media said they wouldn't return to the zoo until the employee was fired for her actions that were "hateful and racist."

Dear Brookfield Zoo,As I'm loyal fan and customer of the zoo, I find that one of your employees has crossed the line...

Others supported the zoo, commenting that the actions of one employee shouldn't overshadow the entire organization.

The Brookfield Zoo Facebook page was inundated with complaints earlier this week and Shana Poohpooh Latrice, has since taken down her Facebook page.
