City Of Amarillo Performs Terrorist Bombing Drill At Globe News Center

I found this rather strange, not sure what exactly the City of Amarillo was trying to prove by doing this.  I guess they were trying to prepare people for the worst, but it to make it so theatrical and life-like just comes off as rather odd to me.  A terrorist bombing drill was performed this morning at the Globe News Center for the Performing Arts.  A simulation of an actual bombing that would have freaked me out big time had I drove by and saw it!

Amarillo Globe News:

"The scenario was chilling: A terrorist’s bomb blast ripped through a crowd at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts, killing at least 25 and injuring dozens.

More than 2,500 people, including firefighters, police and emergency responders, participated in the mock disaster drill Wednesday morning and into the afternoon throughout the city.

Shortly after the simulated blast tore through the crowd, victims slowly emerged from the smoky building, their faces smeared in theatrical blood and soot. One woman, a volunteer with shattered bone protruding from her left wrist, groaned as she gingerly walked toward an impromptu triage area near the east side of the building.

Others screamed and moaned as emergency personnel escorted them to one of at least eight ambulances that pulled up outside to haul 75 to 100 casualties to the city’s major hospitals."

The reasoning for the simulation was to prepare people for an actual bombing, are they trying to warn us about something we should know about?

Hmmmmm....I freaking hope not!  I guess you can never be to prepared...
