Code Blue Warming Station In Amarillo Really Needs Our Help Right Now
In true panhandle weather fashion, this week we're going to see an almost polar opposite of what we've had recently. Goodbye 70s, hello 30s and 40s. With the cold weather coming on, the Amarillo Code Blue Warming Station is in need of our help.
What Is The Code Blue Warming Station
The Code Blue Warming Station exists so that those who need shelter from the bitter cold temperatures can find it and stay warm. They also help those individuals with much needed supplies.
They are open from 7 PM until 7:30 AM when the winter weather gets bad.
The Code Blue Warming Station Needs Those Needed Supplies
This is where you and I come in. While most of us rest easy during the day knowing that tonight we'll be bundled up warm in our beds, there are many in our city who don't have the luxury of that kind of certainty.
The Code Blue Warming Station has been posting updates on social media regarding their immediate needs.
They're in need of everything from blankets, gloves, and sweatpants to travel sized toiletries, masks, cough syrup, and certain types of food. Be sure to check their Facebook page for the most recent updates.
With the temperatures dropping again in the Texas panhandle, this is a good cause to get behind. The Code Blue Warming Station exists for those who can't, or choose not to, use existing shelters. It's a low barrier warming station which means that while there are rules, they aren't as strict as some others.
One of the biggest issues is for those who have pets. The Code Blue Warming Station is pet friendly.
