Warm Christmas Weather in Amarillo — But One Course Shuts Down
Gotta love Christmas time in Amarillo. You know, when it comes to the weather, it's going to be one thing or another. It'll either be frigidly cold with potential snow in the forecast, or it'll feel like a beautiful spring day.
Looking at the forecast for the next 14 days, it appears we're more in line for the latter, spring-like temps that will grace us and allow the kids to go outside and play with every single gift they receive this holiday season.
Play Time For Adults As Well
It's not just the kids who will get to fully enjoy their toys and break from school. Many of us adults will be taking time off from work around the holidays as well, and considering the forecast we're being presented with, I could see more than usual.
One thing I love to do when I have some time off work? Go hack around one of the many golf courses here in Amarillo. We have some good ones, and while I'm not going to make a pro tour any time soon, I do enjoy going out to lose multiple golf balls and shoot a score twice my age.
One Golf Course Will Be Closed
However, if you're planning on heading out on Wednesday, December 17, there will be one course you won't be able to hop on. Comanche Trail will be shut down for the day as they do a little needed work. They'll be replacing the pump system at the course, and that requires a temporary power source to be installed. What this means is that all electrical power will need to be shut off to the facility.
It's a shame because they're calling for temps to be around 70 on Wednesday, but the course is working towards ensuring healthier and more consistent turfgrass conditions, and by installing this new pump system, they'll be able to eliminate repair expenses that have occurred frequently over the last few years. So go smack your balls somewhere else on Wednesday.
