Do We ACTUALLY Have An Answer On H-E-B Coming To Amarillo?
Three things Amarillo continues to pine over. Buc-ee's (it's coming), Costco, and...what's that other one?
Oh RIGHT! H-E-B.
Now look, had I been completely new to Texas, and I once was, I wouldn't understand what all the rage was over H-E-B. When we made the move from Colorado to Texas, we heard people who had lived here before talking about the place. We couldn't figure it out. It's just a grocery store.
Well, we all know it's MORE than just a grocery store. It's a mecca.
Recently, someone stirred the pot again and got us all going about an H-E-B in Amarillo. The question posed on Reddit was "Is HEB going to come or not?" Sometimes, that's all it seems to take to get people going about potentially having it show up in Amarillo.
The responses to the question though were just epic...and true, which is the scary part. Let's take a look at a few of the best ones.
Ok, it's only funny because it's true. I mean, we do seem to have a gas station on every corner of the city, and a couple in between corners. Coffee shops go up faster than a flag in the sky, and we do seem to have an inordinate amount of places to get tea. Just look at how many upvotes it got. Legit, but funny, answer here.
Now I need to do a little research. Is there really another Market Street going up? Or was the user just trying to be funny and address the fact that we may never get an H-E-B in Amarillo? I'll report back.
Ahhhh, now we might have an actual answer as to WHY we don't have one here. They're waiting to get a distribution center in Lubbock in order to transport food and stuff here. Now THAT would actually make some sense. Maybe we should be rooting for that instead of an actual store for the moment.
Let the debate continue about whether or not we'll actually ever get an H-E-B. You know, I actually have a contact who works for them. He may be able to answer this question for us. I have a phone call to make.
