You might have seen smoke rising from the West side of Amarillo this afternoon.  It's been reported that an RV at Amarillo West RV Park on Hope Rd & Interstate 40 caught on fire.  5 firefighter units responded to the scene, and it's been reported no humans were injured in the blaze, but a dog died in the structure fire.

"At least one dog was killed Wednesday afternoon in a Hope Road mobile home fire, Potter County Fire Chief Richard Lake said.

No other injuries were reported.

About 12:52 p.m., firefighters responded to Amarillo West RV Park, 2601 Hope Road, where an RV was engulfed in flames, Lake said.

“When we showed up, there was smoke all the way across the highway ... it was pretty nasty,” he said.

Five fire units with 11 personnel responded to the blaze, and firefighters brought the fire under control by 1:15 p.m., Lake said. The fire threatened one other RV, but heavy wind pushed flames in the opposite direction, he said.

The fire caused extensive damage to the mobile home. Records show the RV’s license plate registered to Lonnie Darrel Parr of Amarillo."
