Halloween is beginning to look like a holiday that goes beyond just being the spookiest day of the year. This year, Halloween just seems more defiant than creepy.

Halloween has become a holiday that is about reclaiming a bit of our normal lives in a year when everything has been anything but normal.

At first there were some cancellations, but it seems for every cancellation two more events pop up to take its place. We now have a renaissance faire, professional wrestling, trunk or treats, and trick or treating happening all over town.

I recently came across another trunk or treat, and this one comes with a bit of a twist. The Emergency Trucks & Treats will be happening this year.

First responders will be on hand for a couple of hours on Halloween at 3501 Soncy Rd. They'll be there from 2 PM - 4 PM.

Someone did ask on Facebook if the event was still scheduled to happen in light of Covid-19, and the response was yes. There has already been a compliance plan filled out for the event, and it was approved.

I'm actually getting a little excited for Halloween. It's nice to know that even with everything that has happened this year, we're still trying to find ways to live as close to normal as possible.

Of course masks, social distancing, and proper hygiene will now play bigger roles in our festivities. I'm willing to accept that, as long as it means they don't cancel the holiday all together.

If you do plan on going out this year, be safe.
