3 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Came From Amarillo
Amarillo isn't exactly known for having a lot of celebrities we can attach ourselves to. Sure, we've had plenty along the way, but by comparison to bigger cities, it's pretty light. I mean, it makes sense. Small cities don't tend to produce a lot of superstars simply because the opportunities to shine aren't there.
However, there are a few that I found that were at least BORN in Amarillo, or the Texas Panhandle, that I was completely unaware of. One of them was just recently in the spotlight, and I guess you could say it is still in the spotlight, considering how much the movie has been watched. Let's take a look at the three I was unaware of.

Todrick Hall
Here's the one from the Texas Panhandle, not quite Amarillo, but close, right? Todrick was born in Plainview back in 1985. He lived in Plainview for quite a while before his family ultimately moved to Dallas.
Hall has pretty much done it all. He's performed on Broadway, been a contestant on American Idol, been in TV shows and movies, and also dances. He's a well-rounded performer who got his start performing at Six Flags Over Texas, and ultimately created his own musical, "Oz, The Musical".
Carolyn Jones
Jones was born in Amarillo back in 1930, and she lived here for quite a while. Her father abandoned the family in 1934, and they moved in with her grandparents, also in Amarillo. As a child, Jones would immerse herself in Hollywood fan magazines, dreaming of making it big.
Well, she did just that. She began getting roles in 1952 after enrolling at Pasadena Playhouse in California. Over the span of 12 years, she began to make a name for herself, securing plenty of roles. In 1964, though, everything changed when she was tabbed to play the original Morticia Addams in "The Addams Family". She earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role and became a comedic star.
Arden Cho
Here's the one where you probably looked at the name and went, who? Cho was born in Amarillo in 1985, but only lived here for a short time. She was raised in San Antonio and Plano for the majority of her childhood. It's unclear just how long she lived in Amarillo.
So, who is Arden Cho? She first showed up on screen in 2008 in a short film called "My First Crush", then would pick up bit roles here and there. It wasn't until 2022 that she teamed up with Netflix for some projects. Her biggest role? Well, you may have heard of it. She is the voice of Rumi in "KPop Demon Hunters", and is set to reprise the role for the sequel whenever it's made.
