With the ban on fireworks a big question circling around the Texas Panhandle is, what should we do this 4th of July? Whatever you do, don’t include fireworks! I want to stress that this year there will be no warning given by police officers when you are caught with fireworks. You will go straight to jail without a warning if you are caught with fireworks! Use caution my young jedi knights! Moving on, to make your life easier I’ve done some digging and found some festivities taking place that you could give a chance. No local fireworks, but still the chance to have a banging time on your 4th of July!

Amarillo Sox 4th Of July Game

When you’re talking about America and our independence, nothing is more American then baseball! Check out the Amarillo Sox on the 4th of July as they take on the Shreveport Bossier Captains at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium. You can’t beat beer and baseball to celebrate our independence! Plus, the Amarillo Sox will be honoring our local firefighters that have been working endless hours keeping Amarillo safe in the midst of all these crazy fires we’ve been seeing. A donation drive will also be taking place to benefit the victims off all the recent fires in our area. The fireworks display that was planned after the game has been canceled, but if your looking for fun the entire family can enjoy this is definitely a great option!

Have A Fourth Of July BBQ

Seeing as they are really cracking down on fireworks this year, you could definitely invite all your friends over and have a great backyard BBQ. Nothing celebrates Independence Day (besides blowing stuff up) better than a nice steak, some braughtwurst and hanging out with good friends. Grab some charcoal (or propane depending on how you were raised) Fire up the grill, grab some steaks and brauts and get it started! With a nice spread you will have no shortage of people joining you, and who knows, you might just start a new Fourth of July tradition!

    Fireworks Display At Ute Lake

While we can't have fireworks here in Amarillo, Ute Lake in New Mexico is having a fireworks display that might actually be worth the trip! Many Amarillo residents make the trip to Ute Lake over summer vacation. It’s a big lake that offers a great scene for boating, fishing, water skiing and so much more. Plus, if you’re looking for a great fireworks display this year Ute Lake is the place to be! There will be games, live music, a horse shoe tournament and much more. In the evening at the lake, New Mexico is holding a BBQ and bean feed free to the public which leads into the fireworks display happening right around dark. With all the activities and the fireworks display being held over the lake, this is looking to be a great 4th of July event that this Amarillo native will be making a trip for.
