One of the worst things in life is losing a pet. Sometimes they just want to get out and run, and a lot of times they forget their way back. Sadly, we see this issue a lot in Amarillo. The amount of dogs I've seen just roaming around the city always makes me wonder who is looking for them.

Now, there are ways to be able to get your beloved family member back to you. Simple things like a tag on their collar are always a good way, but man times the dog isn't wearing a collar.

That's where the beauty of microchipping comes in. Collar or not, a pet can be found, and if microchipped, can easily be returned back to their owner so they can reunite.

Microchipping isn't an overly expensive process, and it's not as painful for the pet as it sounds. If you love that pet of yours, I highly recommend doing this. We had a dog that in her older age would wander out of the house or backyard and not be able to find her way back. Luckily, she never went TOO far from the house.

If you've been thinking of microchipping your pet, then October is the time to do it in Amarillo. The City of Amarillo is offering up free microchipping for your pets all month long. Every Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm at the AAMW facility located at 3501 South Osage, you can stop in and have your pet microchipped for free.

You can always find more details on their website, but it doesn't come more cut and dried than this!
