With a couple of weeks in the books for the Amarillo and Canyon football teams, things are looking pretty good for the area. Several schools have looked particularly strong in non-conference play, and they'll be looking to build on that success.

However, before we start diving into the meat of the schedule and jockeying for playoff positioning, there's a little something each school has to knock off its plate, and it's already happened at one of the area schools.

It's Time For Mums & Parades

You're seeing the mums popping up all over town, and anyone who is anyone will have one. Facebook pages are littered with either pictures of the parade or info on the upcoming parades about to happen.

That's right, it's homecoming time in Amarillo & Canyon. Caprock got the homecoming season kicked off this past Friday, September 5th, and now every other school in the area is getting geared up for theirs.

Part of the homecoming tradition is hitting the football game. It tends to be one of, if not THE biggest, attended games of the season for each school, so Friday Night Lights will get a little busier for the next month.

Palo Duro High School: Friday, September 12 vs. Canyon High
Tascosa High School: Friday, October 3 vs. Lubbock High
Amarillo High School: Saturday, October 4 vs. Abilene High

Canyon ISD

Randall High School: Friday, September 12 vs. Perryton High
West Plains High School: Friday, September 19 vs. Bushland High
Canyon High School: Friday, September 26 vs. Piedra Vista High
