A homicide investigation is taking place in the River Road area, just north of Amarillo, at the address 210 W Mobley St.  At this time, it is believed the man died from a gunshot wound to his upper body, and the suspect is a female.  We don't have details on the connection between the male and female, but we do know the female was detained and booked into Potter County for murder.

The victim was identified at 56 year old Joseph Lee Hamel, and the suspect as 65 year old Janice Mae Sicard.

The Special Crimes Unit is investigating the case, and asks that anyone who might have information about the case to come forward and call (806) 378-9468.

"On May 12, 2014 at approximately 9:30 PM, deputies of the Potter County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 210 W. Mobley, unit 29.  It was reported an ambulance was needed because someone was shot.  When deputies arrived, they found a male who was deceased.  A female was also present and she was detained by the deputies.  It appeared the male had a possible gunshot wound to his upper body.  He was declared dead at the scene.  Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn ordered an autopsy.  The autopsy will be performed next Monday in Lubbock.  The victim was identified as Joseph Lee Hamel, age 56.  Janice Mae Sicard, age 65 was booked into the Potter County Correction Center for Murder. "
