If you are not registered to vote in Texas Monday October 5 is the deadline to register in person. You can register in person until 5 pm on the third floor of the Santa Fe Building on Polk Street downtown Amarillo.

Citizens can also call their local elections administrators and ask them to send a voter registration application. Citizens can call Potter County at 379-2299 or Randall County at 468-5510. If citizens don’t live in either Randall or Potter they can call their county clerk or tax assessor.

Early voting will begin October 13 through October 30. You will be asked to show photo ID to vote in Texas. Acceptable forms include: Texas driver's license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety; Texas election ID certificate; Texas personal ID card; Texas handgun license; US military ID with photo; US citizenship certificate with photograph; or a US passport. Forms must be current or expired less than four years. For voters aged 70 or older, the acceptable form of photo identification may be expired for any length of time if the identification is otherwise valid.

Voting can be done at the Downtown Amarillo Santa Fe Building during the following hours:

October 13-16, 8AM to 5pm

Saturday Oct. 17, 9AM to 3PM

October 19-23, 8AM-5PM

Saturday Oct. 24, 7AM-7PM

Sunday Oct. 25, 12PM-5PM

October 26-30 7AM-7PM

 

Voters without ID: If you don't have ID and cannot obtain one due to a reasonable impediment, you'll need to sign a sworn statement that there is a reason why you don't have any of the accepted IDs, and present one of the following: certified birth certificate; valid voter registration certificate; or a current utility bill, government check, bank statement or paycheck, or government document with your name and an address. If you meet these requirements and are eligible to vote, you may vote in the election.
