I really don't want to be the one to bring this up. Honestly. It hurts my soul in ways that I can't find words to adequately describe. Just when you think you've heard the dumbest thing you'll hear all day, someone comes along and surprises you.

Did you know Cadillac Ranch is supposedly haunted? Me either.

Surprise.

The Spooky Legend Surrounding Cadillac Ranch In Amarillo Texas

Supposedly, and I mean that in the "this sounds like a bunch of horse crap" way, Cadillac Ranch is a rather haunted landmark in Amarillo, Texas. Not only is it a staple of Route 66 and the Texas panhandle area, but it's also lousy with ghosts.

Actually, it's just one lonely ol' ghost.

According to legend, and I use that word loosely, if you go out to Cadillac Ranch at night you can hear the "disembodied screams" of a woman.

Who is she, you ask?

So, who is she? Dunno. No clue. At all.

Thank you, Internet.

The legend, again using that word incredibly loose, only mentions a woman who died in a car crash. Was the crash on the property of Cadillac Ranch?

Not likely.

Was the crash somewhere nearby, and she saw a giant cheesy roadside attraction art installation and thought to herself:

"Hey, I'm dead. Doesn't make sense to go home. What would I do when I get there? Watch TV? I'm a ghost. Guess I'll just go hang out at that cheesy roadside attraction art installation and scare the hell out of some people since I've apparently got time to kill."

Highly unlikely. In fact, the whole thing seems highly unlikely. That didn't stop Ghost Quest from publishing it, though.

In their defense, they do say that the whole matter is still being investigated. Good luck with that one, friends.

We All Love A Good Ghost Story. Big Emphasis On Good.

I do enjoy learning about the paranormal happenings in and around Yellow City. Amarillo has a treasure trove of weird stories, legends, and folklore.

Not a single one that I've experienced has ever led me to Cadillac Ranch being haunted. Not once has a single person tacked that bit of info onto the end of a discussion regarding our town's most famous landmark.

I do greatly suspect that this information is pure fabrication; a mere attempt at some form of online notoriety, that quite honestly, should have been left on Reddit.

Instead, it landed on my editor's desk and then in my email inbox.

And now, it has moved along to you, dear reader.

Amarillo Landmarks: Negative Yelp Reviews

Yelp can be a strange and angry place. That's what I found out recently when I decided to sort the reviews by "lowest rating" first.

I was okay with the people upset over bad service and what not. But I came across a few reviews that, for lack of a better word, left me speechless in their scathing negative reviews on some of Amarillo's most iconic places. Prepare your self for plenty of head shaking and "I dunno" shrugs.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.

This quirky and whimsical place is tucked away behind a fence off US-287N and Cherry Street. While it may seem like a head-scratcher at first, you'll soon find yourself drawn to the unique and memorable displays at Cookie Time.
