Studies are constantly being done. People are constantly crunching numbers on research they've done. Most of the time, you can look at something and a passing remark about how interesting it is. This time, though, I'm calling shenanigans.

How does California have more cities in the Top 10 Foodie cities than Texas?

In a study recently done by the fine individuals at Wallethub, they sought to determine the top 20 cities for foodies in the US. I was a little shocked at the results.

In the top 10, there was only one Texas city. Austin, rightly so, was holding it down for the Lone Star State.

Austin is legendary for its food. Talk to anyone who has ever lived there. You'd think they fell from some hip, carbohydrate infested heaven. They really know how to make you jealous.

Houston showed up on the back-end of the list, and that was it. By comparison, California showed up four times on the list. Florida also had a decent showing.

Have these people never been to Texas?

On BBQ alone, we should have more cities and towns listed. We (supposedly) have the birthplace of the chicken fried steak! What more does a town need to do to get listed than create one of the biggest staples of southern dining of all time?

San Antonio didn't make the list, which is also mind blowing. Dallas, one would think, might wind up on the list. Then you stop and think about all of the legendary restaurants scattered across Texas in small towns from one end of the state to the other. I don't think we got a fair fight.

I'm calling shenanigans.

When you go and see the study for yourself, you'll see that they did compare 180 cities across the US. Amarillo made the list at 77. Dallas was 63. San Antonio finally showed up at 33.

The criteria was based on affordability, quality, diversity, and accessibility.
