New Year's Eve is this weekend, and if you're still trying to decide what to do you're not alone. Maybe you're thinking of getting out of town, but aren't sure where to go.

Here are the 5 Texas cities that landed in the top 25 best for New Year's Eve.

Four Are Pretty Obvious, One Surprised Me

You're not going to gasp at this. At least when it comes to four of them. One of them did catch me a little off guard.

The cities in Texas that made the list, and finished in the top 25, are:

  • Austin
  • San Antonio
  • El Paso
  • Houston
  • Dallas

Austin scored the highest out of Lone Star cities. It's understandable why. Austin's mantra has always circled around two things; being weird and live music. Both are key ingredients in having the best New Year's Eve possible, in my experience anyways.

Austin's cost was pretty high, but they nailed it on entertainment.

How Did El Paso Beat Dallas And Houston?

This is what surprised me. El Paso beat not one, but two cities that I thought were absolute shoe-ins. According to WalletHub, who did the research, El Paso tops the charts when it comes to one key factor; the cost to have a good time.

Apparently drowning your 2022 blues in champagne is pretty expensive in Houston and Dallas. So much so, that one could recommend going to El Paso instead.

Where El Paso suffers a little is in the entertainment department. There may not be as much to do, but your wallet won't take as big a hit.

How Is New Year's Eve In The Texas Panhandle?

Nonexistent if you look at the WalletHub study. Amarillo didn't even make the list. I get it though. We don't have a massive block party to attend; no major festivals or gatherings. Just a handful of bars and clubs with live music, a murder mystery party, and couple of soirees above most of our pay-grades.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, I suppose. Though it would be nice to have something big in the area to ring in the new year.

Lubbock made the list. They actually landed inside the top 100 cities in the US at number 80.

You can check out the whole study here, and if you're looking for a place to go for New Year's Eve, there's a few within driving distance that will show you a good time.

Can You Guess These Towns From Their Satellite Photos?

I'm always down for a good brain challenge. This one however got the best of me.
It's always a fun time looking up address or cities and seeing them from a satellite point of view. You start pointing out landmarks and things you recognize.

One thing you don't account for however is something looking bigger or smaller than you seemed to think it was. So we started grabbing a bunch of these satellite pictures of cities and towns around Amarillo.

As we looked at them, we thought to ourselves, "how fun would this be to actually have to GUESS what these places are?". So away we went.

Go ahead and try to see how many you can guess correctly!
