On a random whim, I decided to do a little digging to see just how many people are killed by cows every year in Texas. We eat a lot of beef, and I wondered what the bovine blow-back might look like. That's when I stumbled across a little factoid that blew my mind.

What is the deadliest animal in Texas? It's absolutely adorable.

Texas, Where There's Always Something Looking To Bite, Sting, Or End You

The lists of "dangerous" animals in Texas are intense. It's a buffet of deadly options that reminds me a bit of Australia. The joke is that everything in Australia is trying to kill you, and according to these lists the same could be said about Texas.

We've got bears, sharks, all kinds of snakes, feral hogs, gators, mountain lions; you name it.

So, when I came across an article about all of the deadly animals in Texas you can imagine my surprise when I saw what they claim as the most deadly animal in the Lone Star State.

Deer. Yes, Deer Are The Most Deadly.

According to their reasoning, and it makes sense when you think about it, deer are the most deadly animal in Texas for one reason alone. They cause more traffic accidents than other animals.

They cause a lot of accidents.

Sharks aren't darting across the highway in the dead of night. You don't have a herd of gators leap-frogging a barbwire fence to come play chicken with you. Snakes don't get caught in your headlights and just stare with those eyes.

Be Aware When Traveling

I can't help myself anytime I see deer standing out in a field. I have to point it out for my kids and we all say "awwwwwww" together like we're watching a newborn baby blow spit bubbles.

That's probably not the best way to handle that situation. The better course of action would be to see that deer while I'm scanning my surroundings, and then watch to make sure any of that deer's friends don't make a mad dash for the opposite side of the road.

Keep an eye out while you're traveling for deer.
