There are a multitude of reasons flags will be flown at half-mast. Sometimes we see it and can't even figure out why. We pull out our phones and Google it so we can see the reason. It could be someone passing away. Certain holidays will have them flown at half-mast.

Tomorrow, you will see the flags at West Texas A&M flown at half-mast, and for an incredibly powerful reason.

The university will be honoring the students that passed away during the 2022-23 academic year by lowering all their flags on and around campus to half-mast. This year saw nine WTAMU students pass away far too soon, and the university honoring them is such a beautiful tribute. It's something I've never seen any school do before.

The flags will represent the lives and legacies of these nine students:

Mallory Anderson
David Batch
Scott Raines
Amanda Soliz
Sarah Haass
Jenifer Salinas
Blake Loria
Joe Hoot
Jadyn Boyd

These students represent the entire state of Texas in the sense of where they came from. These particular students hailed from Bridgeport, Hamilton, Amarillo, San Antonio, Plainview, Canyon, and Lamesa. They were all majoring in something different from one another.

The school will hold a student memorial service in the Joseph A. Hill Memorial Chapel on campus, and there will be a reception to follow in the commons area of the Jack B. Kelley Student Center.

Now, the university isn't stopping with just that. In honor of each of the students, they have awarded nine students with a $700 scholarship, with each one of the scholarships in the name of one of the students that passed away.

Such a classy move by WTAMU and I applaud them for remembering those students whose lives ended entirely too early this academic year.

Google Answers the Top 10 Questions About Amarillo

I love Google. It can literally answer ANYTHING you need it to answer. Whether it's right or wrong is a totally different question.

Recently, I found myself wondering about something and went to Google. And that's when I started noticing the "people also asked..." section and BOY...Some of them made perfect sense, some of them were interesting, and one of them was downright baffling...and it was a top 10 question which is even more absurd.

So let's see what we've got. Here's the top 10 questions as asked to Google about Amarillo.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
