
The Stinkiest Towns in East Texas, According to Locals
(East Texas) With the nickname 'The Rose City', you would think Tyler, Texas, would smell a lot like roses; unfortunately, it doesn't. In fact, in some parts of the southern area of town, it can be one of the smelliest places on Earth. Depending upon how the wind blows. The area near Faulkner Park on Cumberland Road can become pretty foul.
Thankfully, I live far enough away from the sewer plant that's on Cumberland Road, and I don't have to inhale the smell like some of the residents do in the area. I only catch brief whiffs as I drive by. While this odor is isolated to a small area of town, there are some towns in East Texas that are producing more foul odors than this that take over the whole town sometimes.
We're definitely not bragging on it or wanting to admit it; actually, we'd rather hide our stink, but other areas in East Texas are continually producing some pretty bad odors, and citizens are speaking out about their smelly towns. We posed the question on social media, "What is the stinkiest town in East Texas?" and the responses poured in.

East Texans Speak Out on Bad Odors
Apparently, there are areas far worse than the sewage treatment plant on Cumberland Road in Tyler. Of course, we're known for our pine trees and the scent they give off, along with azaleas, roses, and other flowers in the spring, but the smell of pumping crude oil, large chicken farms, and cattle ranches can be a bit much for the nose in some parts of East Texas.

How to Survive a Stinky Drive
Then, if you live near a landfill, paper mill, or sewage treatment plant, you can expect it to be pretty stinky. So when you're traveling the roads of East Texas, you might want to keep your windows rolled up and a bottle of Febreeze on hand or another air freshener when driving through East Texas’ stinkiest towns.
