Everything’s bigger in Texas including our work ethic, apparently. I may be biased in writing that sentence because I’m a Texas gal and I’ve seen firsthand how hard working El Pasoans can be, so it’s not surprising to read that a new Labor Day study has ranked the hardest-working states in America, and good ole’ Texas made the top 5 list!

According to wallethub.com, Texas came in at number 4 for one of the hardest working states in America. I mean, only hard working people can make delicious BBQ so all of this makes total sense!

How Did Wallet Hub Find The Hardest Working States in America?

The study looked at factors like employment rates, hours worked, commute times, and how much free time folks have. At the very top were both Dakotas and Alaska at #2. So basically, if you can survive blizzards, below-zero temps, or grizzly bears, you’re probably working nonstop too.

Texas, though, holds its own. Between oil fields, tech startups, teaching, and taco trucks that never seem to sleep, it’s no surprise Texans landed in the top five.

Meanwhile, Hawaii made the list too, which is interesting because honestly if we had a beach in our backyard, productivity might be challenging!

Michigan ranked dead last, followed closely by West Virginia, Rhode Island, and even California.
