Amarillo Mayoral Candidate’s Blunder Sparks Controversy

Nothing heats up Amarillo like a good political race. We've got one on our hands with the mayoral race, and now we've got a little bit of, well...drama I guess you could call it.

The wild thing is it's so early in the race, so to have something to talk about this early that could be deemed as a bit controversial is surprising. Honestly, I just find this whole thing rather amusing.

The candidate providing the controversy, or laugh depending on how you view it, is Jason Herrick. He recently released an ad where he is in his car talking about the platform he's running on, you know, normal political ad stuff.

One thing he mentions in the ad is the potholes around the city streets. Yes, it's definitely a major problem, and it seems the ones that were created by the blizzard we received earlier in the year haven't been touched.

The roads do feel like driving on swiss cheese these days, and I haven't seen anyone attempting to fix them. As Herrick is talking about them, there is a shot with him outside his car to show off a pothole.

Here's where the fun comes. Viewers started noticing where that particular part of the ad was shot, and it immediately caused a stir.

A person on social media pointed out that the pothole he was showing off wasn't even on an Amarillo street. It was in a parking lot.

Funniest part of all of this? It's not the fact that he chose a parking lot for this scene, but the parking lot he chose was the Adult Video Gallery parking lot. Now THAT is hilarious, you have to admit.

The comments on social media have been hilarious to read. I mean, you aren't going to know about that pothole unless you're in that area often right? No, I'm not saying Herrick frequents the video store, but it's a bit wild that's where they chose to shoot, especially considering you could've just done this on a stretch of Georgia.
