In the latest battle between Kanye West and Taylor Swift, the former's forces embarrassed the latter on her own turf.
West, whose Saint Pablo Tour stopped at one of Swift's chosen home bases — Nashville — Saturday night (September 24), played his song "Famous" three times at the show, according to The Tennessean. The track features the controversial lyric, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b---- famous," and at one point, West stopped his performance to deliver an earmark rant/revelation.
"I need to hear that loud in Nashville," he said as the lyric echoed through the Bridgestone Arena. "So many people told me, 'You've gotta take that line out of the song. You gotta play it safe' [but] this is what rap music is. This is what art is. Saying how you feel. And this song is how I feel."
And how did the crowd feel? Well, in the video above, you can hear many shouting "F--- Taylor Swift!" in a united chant. Guess Swift doesn't have sole custody over the city.
Controversy surrounding "Famous" has been particularly explosive. When West released the song as part of The Life of Pablo, Swift claimed to have been offended by its gruffness. Later, though, West's wife, Kim Kardashian, released a video in which Swift hears the song over a phone call and essentially endorses it, noting "I really appreciate you telling me about it. That’s really nice."
