Kramer’s Korner: Dude, Update Your Billboards Please
One thing you need to know about me. I rant. A lot. I don't know if it's an endearing quality I have or an annoying one, but I can't help it. When I see or hear something I don't like or am frustrated with, I'm apt to pop off for a good five minutes about it.
I need an outlet for this, so I'm bringing my rants to you, because whether you want to admit it or not, you like to rant too.
Welcome to Kramer's Korner. Yes, I know I spelled corner wrong. It was on purpose, so don't start ranting to me about it. Let's rant about something else.
One thing that annoys the crap out of me, and I see it ALL over the city, are outdated billboards. Seems like a silly thing to get upset about right? It's not.
Now I understand we're starting to see more of those digital billboards around town, and I'm thankful for that. Those actually get changed out often and are always up to date with what they're promoting. It's those old school ones where they still have to wallpaper it essentially.
I've seen billboards promoting events or concerts that happened four months ago...and they're STILL up. Say it's an event I want to attend, and I see it on the billboard. I'm like dope, can't wait to go to it. Then naturally I forget the date and miss the event.
I drive by a few weeks later and notice the event. I'm like sweet, they're doing another one, or I DIDN'T miss it. Then I look at the date on the billboard. It's the date I missed, yet its still up there.
Months later, IT'S STILL THERE! Look, if you're going to own a billboard, change it when it's time. Event is over? Get your lazy butt up there and change it. Nothing to fill the spot? Then put something up that says the billboard is available. It's not that difficult.
Think of it this way. That's your business. If I owned a business, that would be like me saying my hours are 10 am to 8 pm, but not having the doors unlocked during those times. I actually know a business in town that I TRY to frequent that does that, but that one is for another day.
