So yesterday, Floyd Mayweather Jr. started calling out Manny Pacquiao on Twitter and Facebook for a fight on May 5th.  He used words like "step up punk" and "let's give the world what it wants to see!"  Well Pacman has officially responded to Mayweather and he is completely down for the fight, but a problem surfaces, of course.

On Manny's official website, there is a statement that reads just like this:

Manny Pacquiao wants to make it clear the fight can happen at the end of May- Manny wants Floyd to release his grip on May 5th, so the fight can happen for the fans.

There is no reason given for why he can't fight until the end of May, but when I did more digging, I found that Manny kind of issued the challenge to Mayweather the day before yesterday (January 9th). (MP8)

Manny Pacquiao has stated, “I‘ve said this over and over before and I’m saying this again, I want Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be my next opponent and I haven’t changed my choice despite recent developments,”

“I am meeting with my promoter tomorrow (Tuesday) and I will insist that the fight with Mayweather be given preference than the four others in the list,”

“I don’t want some quarters to blame me if, in the long run, the fight wouldn’t push through,”

“As I have been saying many times before, I fight for the fans. I want the fans to be happy always.

Mayweather is set to serve his sentence beginning June, so a fight at the end of May almost seems impossible, unless an extension is given.  Let's hope the judge wants to see this fight just as bad as the rest of us and makes that extension happen!  Otherwise, Manny and his team need to find a way to make the May 5th date work!
