Something that has been on the rise recently in Texas is the number of cases involving child pornography and secret recordings. I mean, how could we forget about the Potato Factory scandal in Amarillo recently?

More and more, though, we are hearing about educators in Texas having relationships with students or recording students. Unfortunately, it's happened again, but this one has so many layers to it because while it involves only one person, it put another person in a really bad place professionally and personally.

Scandal At Moore Middle School

Moore Middle School is located in Celina, TX., a small town of slightly over 51,000 people. It's one of those places where everyone knows everyone, so this is something that is sure to rattle the entire community.

Caleb Elliott was a teacher and coach at Moore Middle School. I emphasize the word 'was' as he recently resigned and handed in his teaching license after being accused of and charged with possession of child pornography, as well as making invasive visual records.

What Happened At The School

The portion of Elliott's charges about making invasive visual records are directly related to the school. As mentioned above, he was a coach at the school and was accused of recording boys in the locker room.

Two sets of parents were the ones to blow the whistle on Elliott and get the investigation started after their children came to them and told them what they had seen.

Aside From The Boys, Who Else Does This Affect

Here's the extra layer to this case. Caleb Elliott's father, Bill Elliott, is the coach of the Celina High School football team, as well as the district's athletic director. He is officially in the worst possible place, both personally and professionally.

He spoke at a special school board meeting about the charges against his son and told the crowd, "He will face the consequences that will come to him. He will. That's the way it will be." He also told the community that gathered at the meeting, "My heart has broken all over. I'm sorry."

Bill is a very respected member of the community and school district, and led the Celina High School football team to a state title last season. As of right now, there is nothing that ties him to the events, and he was very remorseful for his son's alleged actions.

What Happens Next

There will obviously be a full investigation to uncover every layer of the allegations. As of right now, we aren't sure just how many victims there are, as authorities need to look through all the images and videos Elliott possessed.

State Representative Jeff Leach, who represents part of Collin County where Celina is located, stated, "If there's anything that's been hidden—if anyone was hired who shouldn't have been hired—we're going to find out all of that," so we are a long way from getting all the answers in this one.
