There are two things we scream about wanting here in Amarillo. Wait, let me rephrase that. Two things we feel we NEED in the city.

We got Buc-ee's out of the way, so that's no longer on the list thankfully. However, two things that Lubbock has that we don't still, and we still aren't even getting a true discussion about it.

Is that about to change though? Obviously I'm talking about H-E-B and Costco. I mean, you probably already guessed that before you even got to this part. H-E-B is a constant discussion with no action. They say we need a distribution center closer before we can get one.

Costco though just announced six new stores that are going to open across the United States, and two of them are in Texas.

You can just feel the excitement building that new stores are coming to Texas. Maybe this is the moment? Amarillo shows up on the list of places finally getting a store?

Nope, sorry. Not this time.

What strikes us in the heart a little bit more this time around is looking at the cities that are getting one, yet we can't seem to get a look here.

The two cities nabbing them in Texas are Prosper and Weatherford.

Explain to me how cities with populations of 41,660 and 38,109 respectively manage to land a Costco but a city of over 200,000 can't seem to even get them to look in our direction?

Either way, we aren't getting one, and I'm starting to question if Costco is ever going to see the value in putting one in the 806.
