I've seen a few people buzz about a sign at the Arby's at I-40 and Coulter in Amarillo. Reading fast food marquis isn't exactly something that I do, but I had to take a look for myself and sure enough there it was in all of it's black on white glory in front of the restaurant for all to see.

We are drive through only crinkle fries

Let's sit here and think about how people could read this. The first time I read it, I took it line by line, We are drive through only, and they have crinkle fries. Then for grins I took a literal look at the sign and realized that hey, Arby's might just be calling me Crinkle Fries...

Ok, I know Arby's has the meats... and I know that they wouldn't insult patrons like that. It shows just how important punctuation is. Many of these signs come with letters and numbers but rarely punctuation. If they do the character is often narrow and is hard to get up there with the suction cup tool. (I speak from experience on this. I did the marquis at my middle school back in the day)

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, While most other restaurants here in Amarillo have opened back up, perhaps Arby's is having the same problem a few other businesses have been having with finding folks who want to work. Let's face it. Slinging Horsey Sauce for isn't high on many job seekers lists and the pay isn't great.

Don't get me wrong, I got nothing against Arby's. Love you guys... I'm all about the Roast Beef. I know times are tough and I'm pulling for you. Maybe a rephrase might help.

Just sayin'

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
