When the pizza delivery driver isn't safe, nobody is!  Hide your kids, hide your husband, hide your wife...they car jacking err'body!  After a pizza delivery dude just delivered a piping hot pie, petty grand theft auto is pulled on him...a true Amarillo tragedy in my opinion.

Friday night, police officers found the injured and shocked pizza shipment chauffeur injured in a home in the 800 blocks of S Kentucky with injuries to his face and head.

"The suspect got into the passenger side door of the victim’s vehicle and asked for a ride. The driver refused. The man hit the driver in the face with his fist then produced a handgun hit him in the face several times. The driver got out of his car, and the suspect drove away. Shortly after that, officers were sent to 8th and S. Pierce on a hit and run accident."

The crook quickly crashed the stolen Oldsmobile into a construction barricade and then went into the dirt lot.

He fled on foot, and about an hour after the original call went out, officers responded to two separate calls of an intoxicated person knocking on doors and yelling about a gun in the 500 block of S. Browning.

In the first call, the witness came to the APD to report the disorderly man.

Officers responding to the second call saw the described suspect walking in the 700 block of S. Browning.

He was taken into custody.
